"This was a tragic event in human history, but by paying tribute to the Armenian community we ensure the lessons of the Armenian genocide are properly understood and acknowledged. - Jerry Costello.
A violent earthquake shook the region on Saturday. Its epicenter was 50 miles northwest of the capital of Nepal. It was relatively shallow which made it more damaging. Journalists say there is rubbage everywhere. Landscapes have been altered. The quake with a strong 6.7 magnitude aftershock, that hit on Sunday, killed at least 25,000 people. Most of the victims were in Nepal, but dozens also died in India and Tibet. The quake also shook Mt. Everest causing avalanches, killing at least 17 climbers there, and stranding some others.
The earthquake that happened hit in one of the most poorest countries. That is terribly sad. Safety officials came to help from neighboring countries as far as the US. I think its devastating how many lives were lost and homes were taken and destroyed. Its very sad that these people died and are worse than before in Nepal.
There isn't really much you can do in situations like these. One day your happy and life is running smoothly, then a disaster happens. Earthquakes and other natural disasters are random and almost unpreventable in some areas. I would say, just try your hardest to be ready for any storm that may come and pass.
"I think that, you know, look, obviously the president and I care deeply about what's going to happen for our country in the future. And I don't think, you know, either he or I can make predictions about what's going to happen tomorrow or the next year." - Hillary Clinton
Kenya is building a wall roughly the span of it's border with Somalia. Kenya is also reportedly telling the United Nations to relocate the world's largest refugee camp that is locate din Kenya. It contains 600 thousand Somalis. Kenya officials want it moved to Somalia. But the UN, says it hasn't gotten an official request. All of this has to do with security. Kenya says Somalia has to change the way the US did on 9/11. The alchabob terrorist group is based in Somalia. Kenya believes that they came into Kenya into the refugee camps targeting Christians and killing 147 people. Alchabob also claimed an attack in 2013 that killed 67 people in Kenya's west-gate shopping mall. I believe that it is horrible that Somalia is letting this terrorist group trespass into another country and basically raid their refugee camp killing and taking Christians. I think building a wall would be the right thin to do because then at least they will have more time to get themselves prepared before the terrorist group comes back again, and maybe the wall will stop them from coming back period.
Its very smart when countries do things like this to protect their country and people. It helps the safety of everyone, especially when a terrorist group is involved. More countries need to take action like Kenya is doing, and maybe more countries will be safe and better off from all the evil in the world.
This month is financial literacy month, and there are many ways it can tie into some the special challenges America's young workforce faces today. Many problems include high tuition costs, student loan debt, borrowing more money than you may need, graduating late, being unrealistic about money earnings, overlooking in-state public colleges, and missing student loan payments. Many of these problems make work hard on the young adults in this generation. This millennials of today are the most educated ever, and have the most potential. But they get held up by these small mistakes with money. Bottom line: borrow less, budget more.
I think that students should be more educated about money when going to college and applying for jobs. We are the smartest and most educated generation, so why do we make so many mistakes with our money in and after college? We can figure out how to work new cell phones, computers, ipads, etc. everyday but cant figure out how to budget our money so we aren't in debt. I think students should research more because paying or not paying for college can change your life for the good, and not having to pay back student loans, or have student loans so large that you re paying for the rest of your life. So like I said earlier, borrow less & budget more.
